In this segment, Jim Clark, National Manager for Disease Control, explains why animal diseases, such as foot-and-mouth disease and avian influenza, pose such a threat to Canada’s farms and economy. He also explains how such diseases can be brought in through prohibited meat products and live animals that people do not declare when they enter Canada.
Join CBSA spokesperson, Jane Killins, to find out details related to the declaration form that travellers must fill out on the plane and present to the Canada Border Services Agency at their entry point into Canada. During this segment, you can also see her detector dog, Buddy, in action.
In this segment, Greg Stubbings, the CFIA’s Director and Chief of Plant Health for Canada, covers the effects of invasive species on our crops and environment, and how they can come into Canada through prohibited fruits and vegetables, plants and/or wood products. He also explains why travellers cannot bring in fruits and vegetables from overseas that we grow here in Canada.
In this segment, Greg Stubbings, the CFIA’s Director and Chief of Plant Health for Canada, explains why Canadian stores and restaurants can sell certain fruits and vegetables from overseas, but individual travellers can’t always bring these very same products into Canada.
