The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) delivers the Travellers' Program for the personal importation of food, plant and animal products.

The CBSA can also provide information about:

• vehicle imports
• firearm or weapon imports into Canada
• personal exemptions, duties and taxes
• postal imports
• travel documents

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) establishes the standards for the import of food, plants, animals and related products into Canada. The CBSA enforces these standards at the border and points of entry.

The CFIA provides policy information on:

• food imports
• animal imports
• plant imports

Travellers and importers should use the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) as a first step to help determine import requirements. AIRS is an extensive database designed for commercial importers but it does include helpful import information for individuals who are familiar with product classification systems.
